SNF Run 2018

The “SNF RUN: Running into the Future” evening race will take place for the 4th consecutive time in Athens’s historic city centre on Saturday, 23 June 2018, with the opportunity of the celebration of the international Olympic Day, which falls on the same day.

The 2018 “SNF RUN: Running into the Future” is part of the Summer Nostos Festival (SNFestival), a week-long Athens event full of music, theatre, dance, sports and various other happenings that will be taking place at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) between 17-24 June 2018.

This year’s SNF RUN will feature two different races, a 10K and a 6K run, as well as 1K route for Special Olympics athletes. The starting point for the first two races will be the Panathenaic Stadium right at the heart of the Athens – where the modern Olympic Games were first held in 1896 – and the finish line will be at the Stavros Niarchos Park near the Athenian Riviera. Runners participating at the 10K race will follow an idyllic route past Athens’s historic sights before reaching the SNFCC finish line via Syggrou Avenue that connects Athens’s city centre and coastline.

Aimed primarily at promoting fitness, well-being and sports culture as well as rewarding participation and effort, the SNF Run event invites runners from all over Greece and abroad to be part of this unique sporting event and celebrate together the ideals and values of the Olympic movement.

With the conclusion of all races, the medal ceremony will take place at 22.00 pm at the SNFCC’s Great Lawn followed by an impressive fireworks show.

The SNF Run, which is free for all participants, is organized by the non-governmental organization “Regeneration & Progress” in collaboration with the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) and the Greek Olympic Committee. The SNF Run and the SNFestival respectively are both exclusively funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
