Forest of Tebi Valley in Thessaly

It is an extensive valley of the Pinios River with high and steep rocky slopes, wooded declivities, a riverside forest and maquis. This significant aesthetic forest, with the natural springs of Agia Paraskevi, is situated between the Lower Olympus massif and Mount Ossa.

From a geological point of view, the area consists of carbonate rocks, schistose, serpentine and gneiss. It also exhibits limestone-bearing crags, gallery forests with Salix alba and Populus alba, forests of Oriental planes (Platanion orientalis) and forests with evergreen oaks (Quercus ilex).

The area contains forests of great aesthetic and ecological value. A large number of aquatic birds and common species of fish inhabit the area. A Greek endemic plant species can also be found in the area.
